GEORGIA JUNIOR RODEO ASSOCIATION, INC.

Welcome to the Georgia Junior Rodeo Association, the GJRA was established in1987 as a non-profit rodeo organization for children.  From its small, humble beginning, the organization has grown immensely and now claims approximately 200 members from five Southeastern States.  GJRA currently encompasses competitors from 3 to 19 years of age in four competing age divisions. (6 & under, 7-11 years, 12-14 years/eighth grade, and High School)  This association was developed to teach both rodeo skills and life lessons; and of course, we have barrels of fun!!! Numerous GJRA members have continued on to become serious competitors in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, and other professional rodeo organizations. Our alumni are proud of the Georgia Junior Rodeo Assn. and they will be glad to tell you just how their rodeo career was launched with the GJRA. We are now seeing many previous members back at the GJRA arena with their children. They want their kids to also experience the strong rodeo foundation and nurturing environment that GJRA afforded them as children.  From 1 to 100 there’s fun for the whole family.

GJRA competition is the absolute best in the Southeast with nail biting contests and lead changes right down to the Finals Rodeo... The competition is fierce in all divisions including the 6 and under, those little guys are serious competitors. Competition like this indicates skills are strong and getting stronger across the organization. In June, 2012 we saw an awesome Finals Rodeo and awards ceremony distributing over $60,000 in prizes. A wise person once said, you're only as good as the people you compete against.  Well, believe it: That’s why GJRA Members are the most skilled and best competitors in this part of the country. Congratulations to all our award winners at the 2012 Finals Rodeo!!! Your hard work and dedication is certainly showing!!!

It is such an exciting time to be a part of the GJRA as it evolves and grows.  Georgia Junior Rodeo has seen many changes, as we expanded our Rodeo format to include a new High School Division, and the response was amazing!!! We expect to see even more participation in the High School Division this year.  We designed this all-new webpage for the most up-to-date information and rodeo results. We also added Text-In to enter, in addition to the standard Call-in entry for easy rodeo entry with today’s busy schedules, and we instituted the GJRA Kelly Reece Memorial Scholarship for graduating seniors.

You can be proud to be a part of the GJRA Organization. GJRA membership is respected throughout the Southeastern United States with a reputation of producing not only strongly skilled competitors but competitors who display great sportsmanship. These are just the kind of kids you’ll find at Georgia Junior Rodeos, the kind of kids GJRA is proud to claim and the kind of competitors GJRA is known for. We want to see YOU at the Rodeo!!!

GJRA offers the following events: Tie Down Calf Roping, Breakaway Calf Roping, Team Roping, Dummy Roping, Goat Tying, Chute Doggin, Barrel Racing, Pole Bending and Steer Riding.

(Events are age & gender dependent) Click here for Specific Event Information.

All rodeos start at 9:00AM and are held at the "Lightning P Arena" in Resaca, Georgia. There are 10 rodeos held concurrent with the school year, ending with the Rodeo Finals each June where saddles, buckles and other wonderful prizes are awarded.  Membership fees are $60 per child and $50 for the second child and $30 for all subsequent children in the same household  Entry fees are $10 per event for 6 & under, and $15 per event for all other events except High School.  High School entry fees are $25 per event. There is also a $10 arena fee per rodeo.  Minimum raffle tickets and ad sales are required to participate in the Finals Rodeo. All advertising and ticket sales support prize and trophy expenses.
